Guidelines for Parents and Guardians
Essential Agreements
- To get the best from the school for your ward, parents are required to co-operate with the institution in its attempt to help children progress by paying attention to their regularity, punctuality, discipline and take interest in their child’s work.
- Parents should check the almanac everyday and note the homework and other instructions given and provide conducive environment for studies at home.
- Should there be any concern about your ward’s progress, it is advisable to write to the Segment Coordinator about the problem(s) and seek guidance. Your letters/mails will be replied to after discussion with the concerned teacher/s.
- Attendance less than 85% may result in detention.
- Students will not be allowed to go home during school hours. Parents are advised not to make any social engagements or medical appointments during working hours. To ensure better discipline, parents are requested not to send their ward to school on the day they have such appointments.
- Date of Birth given at the time of admission will not be changed under any circumstances.
- A copy of the Aadhar Card and Caste Certificate of your ward must be submitted in order that the details of the students are entered in the U-DISE (Unified District Information System for Education) used by the Indian Government to collect and manage data related to schools & students. The Caste Certificate is also required for Grade IX CBSE registration and will be used while mentioning the caste of the student at the time of issuing the Transfer Certificate after completing Grade X.
- If your ward is suffering from any contagious disease, he/ she will not be permitted to attend the school until a medical certificate is produced.
- A leave application on A4 sheet duly supported by a medical certificate should be submitted to the Home Room Teacher, for sick leave of more than three days.
- Please take care of the personal hygiene of your ward. Ensure he/she is well groomed every day.
- Students are allowed to use the school telephone only in case of emergency. Parents can leave a message with the Front Office Executive in case of an emergency. The student will not be called to attend any phone call from the class.
- A student is permitted to leave the school premises in emergency, only if he/she has a gate pass which may be collected from the Front Office with the permission of the Principal/Vice-Principal/Headmistress.
- Parents are not permitted to meet the ward or teachers during the working hours. They are refrained from entering classrooms during class hours.
- Parents will receive SMS from school regarding important information. The same will also be displayed in the Parent app.
- The prescribed school uniform should be worn on all days. If the child is not in proper uniform he/she will be sent back home, unless there is a written communication from the parent stating a valid reason.
- The school is not responsible for the loss of any personal property. However, enquiries can be made at the ‘Lost and Found’ counter.
- ID cards should be worn everyday by all students. Duplicate ID cards will be issued on payment of Rs100/- .
- Please ensure that only vegetarian food is sent for snacks & lunch.
- Students should carry their lunch with them in the morning itself. Parents will not be permitted to deliver the same at school.
- To ensure the safety of students, Attendee Cards must be shown at the gate during dispersal and also at the alighting point for students who avail school transport.
- Parents are requested not to drop their wards at school before 8:10 a.m and ensure that they are picked up by 3:30 p.m before and after which, the school will not be held responsible for the safety of your ward.
- Assist and guide your ward in doing his/her homework.
- All circulars will be uploaded in the Parent Mobile App. No hard copy of the same circular will be issued to students.
Rationale for Sectioning
At DSE, changing / shuffling of students is done every year. This is done to encourage them to come out of their comfort zones and learn to make new friends which is a desirable trait.
- While allotting sections to the students, care is taken to ensure that each section has students of different ability levels. Therefore, all sections are equal in terms of academic merits of students.
- While shuffling the students certain guidelines are kept in mind :
a) Gender and House ratio is maintained as far as possible.
b) If any undesirable friendship develops.
c) Capacity of leadership and the competitive levels of the students.
- Allotments are done on the recommendations of HRT and subject teachers keeping in mind the above parameters.
- Parents are not allowed to interfere in the process of allotting sections. Please refrain from approaching the school authorities with pleas.
School Rules
- Students are expected to be on time to school (8:30 a.m).
- School gate will be closed at 8:30 a.m. Late comers will be sent home after issuing three warnings. Kindly avoid arguments and explanations in such cases.
- Every student should carry the almanac to school and wear his/her identity card.
- Moving from one classroom to the other between periods should be done in silence and in an orderly manner.
- Students should always be clean and neatly dressed. School uniform should be worn on all working days, PTMs and school functions. Students who are slovenly or not in proper uniform will be sent home.
- Boys should get their hair trimmed at regular intervals. Girls with shoulder length / long hair should make two plaits using black bands. A hair band / neat pony tail should be sported for very short / short hair.
- Religious Dress, Leggings, Traditional Head Gear & Streaking of Hair for girls are strictly prohibited. Fancy Earrings, Tattoos, Mehendi, Nail Paints etc. are not allowed.
- Students are required to speak only in English within the school premises. Use of foul language, obscene gestures, racial and disrespectful language or actions will not be encouraged. Fighting, hitting or assaulting anyone will have serious consequences.
- The school reserves the right to suspend students whose conduct is deemed harmful to other students after three written warnings.
- Students should take pride in maintaining the school property. Any damage is liable to be penalised.
- No expensive or fancy articles / Electronic gadgets / Cell phones should be brought to school. Wearing of watches till Grade VIII is strictly prohibited and will be confiscated and given only at the end of the academic year. Students of Grades IX & X may wear only non- digital watches.
- Distribution of only one sweet/toffee per student is allowed on a birthday. Students from Nursery to Grade X can come in civil dress with decent outfits on their birthdays. Birthday celebrations, take away and distribution of return gifts to the class is strictly prohibited. However, a book or a sapling can be donated to the school which will be duly acknowledged.
- Students who come to school with their attendants should not leave before the attendant arrives. In case of delay, they should report to the school office.
- Bullying is strictly prohibited inside the school premises. Strict action will be taken against those who indulge in bullying .
Bus Rules
- Students using the school bus are expected to be at the bus stop at least five minutes before the designated time of arrival of the bus. The bus will not wait for late comers.
- No student should come near the entrance of the bus until it has made a complete stop.
- Students must occupy seats immediately after boarding their buses. The front door of the bus is the only authorized entrance and exit.
- The bus drivers are authorised to stop buses at the designated stops only. The list of stops is prepared keeping in view the convenience and safety of all bus commuters and is subject to change.
- Request for door to door pickup will not be entertained.
- Prior intimation must be given to the driver in case a student is not availing the bus facility for the day.
- On certain days (picnic /special days), return trip will not be provided. In such case parents must pick up their wards from the school campus. Prior intimation of the same will be given.
- When the bus is in motion, students must not move around. Unruly behaviour like shrieking and shouting is not permitted.
- Students will be held responsible for any damage to buses caused by negligence.
- No student is allowed to eat in the bus. Littering inside the bus is strictly prohibited.
- Under no circumstances will a student be allowed to board another bus than the one mentioned in the ID card unless there is a written communication to the HRT and the Transport In charge.
- Lists of students with their boarding & alighting bus stops will be available in each bus.
- Parents are requested to avoid arguments with the drivers. The Transport In charge can be contacted in case of any complaint.
- Due to traffic problems/ diversions, the school bus may sometimes reach later than the scheduled time. Parents are requested to cooperate.
- Change of transport timing during exams and other days will be informed in advance through the almanac.
- Families that shift residence during the session must notify the school of the same. In such cases, separate routes/additional bus stops cannot be accommodated. The school reserves the right to withdraw the bus facility in such cases.

Leave of Absence - Rules
- Parents should fill in the ‘Record of Non – Attendance’ for each day the student is absent from school stating the reason for absence.
- In case of absence on a given day, admittance to the class the next day will not be allowed without a letter from the parent, addressed to the Home Room Teacher, stating the reason for the absence.
- If a student is absent for more than 3 days, leave of absence must be communicated to the Principal through a mail.
- Students who require medical attention during school hours will be sent by the teacher to the school Infirmary and the information will be communicated to the parents.
- Students returning to school after suffering from an infectious or contagious disease should produce a doctor’s certificate to be endorsed by the school.
- Repeated or unexplained absence for a month renders the student liable to have his name struck off the rolls. Re-admission may be granted only at the discretion of the Management.
- Students are expected to attend school on the opening day after each vacation. Those absent because of sickness must present a medical certificate before they may be admitted to the grade.
- No Re test/ exam will be conducted for students of Grades I to X if they are absent for the same.
