National Education Day is celebrated in India on 11th November every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of India. He was a freedom fighter, renowned historian and great educationist who played a critical role in reframing and reshaping the education system of India. The students of Delhi School of Excellence, Banjara Hills presented a special assembly program in Urdu to acknowledge and honour the contribution of Abul Kalam Azad to the cause of education in India. They recited Urdu Shaayari, and spoke about the importance of education in shaping the character of people, inculcate social responsibilities and communication skills, broaden ones horizons and bring about peace and brotherhood in society. There was a beautiful dance performance on a patriotic song, and a soulful song that was a prayer for the well-being of the people and the nation. The program also witnessed a pledge being given to students in Urdu about the need to serve the nation and respect teachers and elders. The students were dressed in colourful and beautiful costumes, and used placards with pictures to reiterate the importance of education and patriotism.
